Filmmaking is an art that creates magic, especially when it takes you to two stunning locations. Recently, I spent three days shooting in London with three more coming up, and I've just returned from two weeks immersed in a refugee camp in Iraq. These contrasting experiences not only showcased the diverse stories branded content can tell, but also highlighted the unique narratives waiting to be uncovered in each setting.
Join us as we share the behind-the-scenes of our thrilling adventures in London and the heartfelt connections made in Iraq.
Filming in London
London is a city alive with energy. Our team launched into a whirlwind of creativity as we filmed branded content for three different companies throughout the city. Every day felt like a new treasure hunt, featuring unique settings and lively personalities, all under London’s famously unpredictable weather.
Day one was all about location scouting. We roamed iconic spots like Tower Bridge and the picturesque streets of Notting Hill. Each client had a distinct vision. For example, one wanted a vintage aesthetic to reflect its heritage, while another preferred a contemporary look that embodies the city’s buzz. Our job was to capture each story through our lens.
Journey to Iraq
The next phase of my adventure led me to Iraq, where we dedicated two weeks to documenting the incredible work of the non-profit organization Make Life Skate Life. This trip was especially meaningful as it brought me back to a location I visited in 2018, stirring fond memories.
Filming in the refugee camp was a poignant contrast to London, yet equally impactful. Each person we met had a story worthy of being told. For example, one young boy shared how skateboarding allowed him to escape the harsh realities of camp life. By capturing these stories, we ensured that their voices reached beyond the camp’s borders.

Our time at the camp reinforced the significance of storytelling. Visual narratives can cultivate empathy and bridge cultural divides, opening hearts and minds across diverse backgrounds.
Film Festival Premiere
The film will be premiered at the Connect Inspired by Skateboarding festival in Bordeaux October 19th. More on this soon!
Looking Ahead
Following our unique adventures in London and Iraq, there's no time for rest! July takes me back to New Zealand for exciting projects with Bungy and Ferrari.
Filmmaking is a never-ending journey filled with opportunities to tell diverse stories. From intimate tales of hope in a refugee camp to thrilling moments of speed and adventure, the excitement for what lies ahead is tangible.
Throughout the filmmaking process, it’s essential to relish the journey—from brainstorming ideas to making the final edits. Each location offers a mix of aesthetics and emotional resonance that shapes our storytelling.
